  1. Yes Blu an all round good lesson in how to go about being a street artist.

  3. Blu is not just next level ... he is on another sphere altogether.

that piece is mind bogglingly amazing.

  4. I wish someone, or Blu himself, would buy a better camera so there are more detailed pics but I suppose when one doesn't seem to sell- out prints, shows, etc., one must make do with what they got.

  5. I wish Blu would paint fatter lines so I could see what's going on. He painted a piece in Berlin earlier this year and, as soon as I stood far enough back to see the whole piece, I couldn't see what was going on any more. His pieces from a few years ago were much bolder. I liked them more because of that. maybe he needs a new paint brush, the old one is just worn out, all the bristles fell out. or maybe they don't make brushes big enough to deal with the scale he paints at now!?

this piece benefits from the grey shadows. looks like he's spent more time on it than recent pieces. glad to see. Blu must be knackered. He's covered more wall space than anyone else on the planet. and with a message. AND without his name plastered everywhere. AND without a screen print release of every street piece he's painted. good show!

a thought though - when does a piece stop being "street art" and become a "mural"? street artists don't usually have permission, or a massive robot platform crane thing, when they paint!!!

if "permission" stops something being street art, then a lot of the pieces being drawled over on Vandalog etc are not street art (eg, ROA rabbit in Hackney).

or are murals now also street art? and does that mean every mural is street art, or only those painted by someone who once painted without permission?

anyway, a giant trash robot created by Blu is coming to pick me up and lay me in my bed now, so I'll have to say goodnight.

    goodnight

(thanks Blu, I can go to sleep happy now)

  7. Dave...the general rule of thumb is that if a piece is featured on either Vandalog, Unurth or Wooster then the chances are very high that it's a legal mural. If it's on all 3 of those sites then it definitely is.

  8. but they are "street art" sites, so that means they're not showing "street art", so actually they are "mural" sites!?!?!

I much prefered the last millenium when the only place to see artistic expression in the streets was by going out in the actual street. Sure, it means I would never have seen this piece by Blu, but then I don't feel like I've seen it anyway, just a 3 inch square photographic representation of what the piece is probably like.

I think I'll go make a cup of tea, cut myself a slice of the raspberry cheesecake my girlfriend made, and read a book. goodnight
