I'm trying to understand the market for this image, fetish? Comic book fetish? Old photograph fetish? Old photo - comic-slightly humorous fetish? Or just, this was mentioned in Banky's movie so it should be worth something, oh and it's a postcard in the US version of the DVD so doubly relevant to the state of street art today? Fuck cares really and I don't know why it bothers me so much.
Maybe because in said movie Banksy makes a big thing at the end out of 'I will never again help someone get into this game because they smell of garlic, have shit ideas and make the rest of us look like fucking fools' (something like that anyway). And, yet here we have an image from that artist being used in the DVD pack - does that make sense?
Yeah actually it does, if all that was bollocks
The market for this print is people who are a bit simple in the head and are therefore easily amused.
ReplyDeleteIs it something to do with the film ghostworld? Or simply that he chucks any pop visual reference into anything hoping it will appeal to someone... Hoping two wrongs make a right?
ReplyDeleteOr he's having a laugh or stupid
It's just about putting two incongruous elements together to make a weak visual joke. There's nothing more to it. It really is that dumb and shallow.
ReplyDeleteIt's genius fuckheads and I'm glad its gone over your heads, or simply under your tiny balls. X
ReplyDeletehello again j want to try and say something interesting, intelligent or funny? Go on I dare ya.
ReplyDelete'It's genius fuckheads and I'm glad its gone over your heads'
ReplyDelete...please...hold on while i catch my breath...please please PLEASE...im DYING to hear your explanation for why it is 'genius'
I love these cunts that pretend they've worked something out that you, due to your own lack of foresight, stupidity and poor genetics, just couldn't possibly understand.
ReplyDeleteGo fuck yourself you know nothing sanctimonious git.
This print is fucking awful, there is no deeper meaning....it's just plain shit. I'm sure it'll sell in an instant though because that's the way it is.
It's all in the title. Batpap. Says it all.
ReplyDeleteEspecially loved by egocentric morons who pretend to be black men.
jboy will love it then.
ReplyDelete...it's 'hand-stained' by Mr Brainwash...of course he will love it.
ReplyDeleteits guano..... batcrap
ReplyDeleteViva! Le Brainwash! Come on, he's an actor and just messing with your minds. Seems he done a good job as y'all are foaming at the mouth like the bitches you are!
ReplyDeleteNo I'm not JBoy, he's busy trying to suck Silkys pipi if he can find it.

ReplyDeletethis blog has really struck in a nerve in this world. all the haters (now including me...) have come out to play.
"It's genius fuckheads and I'm glad its gone over your heads, or simply under your tiny balls. X "
i love how some of you are blindly jumping on this obvs sarcastically laced comment, desperate to expel some .info targeted vitriol.
large up the internets
Well said dee, I took that comment for the joke it was. I hope anyway.
ReplyDeleteMBW gets my respect for continually surprising me with how shit he can be. Lowering the game as it were.
It was a joke, in a way, but more important is how the 'street art world' view MBW. "Lowering the game as it were" for example. As if MBW is lowering the fine aesthetics of the street art world. Can someone tell me which street art is considered "high art"? That is the problem.
ReplyDeleteMajor art critics and galleries consider all street art shit, but that is not the point.
The point is, how come loads of street art commentators have now taken the place of the old cheese and wine brigade of yore and are complaining that MBW is not 'High art' and is 'degrading' the street art scene.
That's funny.
Oh look, it's past midday, time for my first glass of port.
Toodle pip!
pour me one to would you please?
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting part of all this for me at least, is the inclusion of this image in the DVD pack, meaning collusion between the pair. This would question any sort of critique Banksy supposedly has of what Brainwash achieved. The image? Well yeah it is what it is.
Touche!
ReplyDeleteMBW is no doubt getting a percentage from the film, as it was all his footage, and they probably gave him a slice of the marketing action too as part of the deal, hence this inclusion.
ReplyDeletembw supposedly gave Banksy all the footage in return for getting a foot up the slippery street art slide
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I'm not too inclined to believe anything that comes from the Banksy empire and it's OBEY and MBW affiliates nowadays. It's all a giant greed driven group cock-sucking exercise..
ReplyDelete"MBW is no doubt getting a percentage from the film, as it was all his footage....."
ReplyDeleteI bet you guys send get well cards to the BBC every time Dot Cotton is ill.
"I bet you guys send get well cards to the BBC every time Dot Cotton is ill."
ReplyDeleteSo what are you trying to say...that the entire premise of MBW obsessively filming people was faked from the very start? I wouldn't go that far, but I do think the whole scenario of him becoming a street artist and having a 'sell out' show was all contrived to give the film a narrative and plot twist that it wouldn't otherwise have had.
Well, it's like Banksy said in the film. In a lot of ways art is a joke. He's talking about modern art of course. No one in their right mind would say that Da Vinci, or Michaelangelo or any other classic artists work was a joke. They spent years perfecting their crafts. Any idiot could throw this together in a couple of minutes. It's like this DuChamp piece I saw at MOMA San Francisco a couple of years ago. It was just a urinal on a pedestal. Biggest piece of crap I've ever seen yet it occupies valuable real estate in one of the biggest art museums on the west coast. It's a total joke.
