I like a print because?

Why does Street Art lead to the most surreal justifications for liking a piece of art? Why does it lead galleries to giving certain facts as if they're the reason to buy i.e. brp 'It is a nine colour hand pulled screenprint available at £195' (but 'forgetting' to show us an image)

Does the number of 'screens' improve the image?Yes, yes there's a few people who can bore the rest of silly with the noble art of screen printing, but when did this shine a turd exactly?

Does the cost? Well it makes it more affordable.

How does seeing 'in the flesh' make an image better? It doesn't unless you like 'smelling' the thing and carefully placing in your portfolio, it doesn't suddenly make it a Picasso.

  1. actually, seeing a piece of art in the flesh does improve on seeing it at 72 dpi, but only if the artwork is good in the first place.
A DkFace print, colour seperated and prepared on computer, will look pretty much the same in real life as in a jpeg. No subtlety will be lost as his work contains no subtlety.

nine colours is lazy. screen printing can be incredibly beautiful with just a few colours, with translucent colour overlays, etc. Check the work of an artist like Jordan Crane to see how amazing a screen print can look http://reddingk.com/prints.html
Street artists went crazy about screen prints because of Shepard Fairey, and he was inspired by underground poster art, skateboard graphics, etc. all things that weren't made as art pieces, that weren't made to last long. He didn't start screen printing to make more products to sell them at a cheaper price, but as an easy way to get his "message" (is there one?) out. But unfortunately these days it's the norm for every cunt to make prints (probably because they can't paint or draw for shit)

And the phrase "hand pulled" is kind of redundant, as I don't think there is an art screen printer out there that uses a machine. It's like telling me that the cup of tea I'm drinking is made with leaves grown on the "tea" plant.

oh god, why don't they all fuck off and die already!?!? every time I see DkFace's face I feel like I have to punch it...
