A massively hilarious picture capturing the sheer artistic genius of Dran, actually a borderline catatonic piece who's only merit is that it highlights the sheer shitness of the gift card art genre, the truth being the frame has more to it than most of that which is produced. Go figure, as this piece is just that. Does a shit piece critiquing shit art become good? No.

Source of picture - can be worked out from looking at the image, it's some sort of image store or something.
Weird how that site is called 'Street Art News' isn't it, as it seems to consist almost entirely of highly priced consumer products. Thought I was on Vandalog for a minute.
ReplyDeleteAs for the image...it's the kind of weak cartoon you'd expect to see in a free newspaper like Metro, glance at for 2 seconds and then forget about for ever.
It's all about the print 'drops'. Street art (and street art news), that is.
ReplyDeleteDont get Drab, looks like old time Monty Python stills, still if theres a market for it!.
ReplyDeleteI think it's supposed to be Van Gogh's "Sunflowers"
ReplyDeleteso it's not critiquing shit art, but very expensive art
could be read in different ways - as a diss against VG, as a diss against people that spend millions on paintings, or a diss against the burglar who is too stupid to realise the worth of the painting. Or maybe he's intelligent enough to know he could never sell such a famous painting, so he's better off just nicking the frame
how multi-layered this piece is. will Dran be releasing greetings cards soon? there's no doubt a reasonable profit to be made from street art greeting cards
