Street Art is really doing my head in at all levels, the hypocrisy of it all, the in-fighting, the elitism and corruption surpass that of the fine art and contemporary art world… At least there, all the bitching and dealing is done behind closed doors and everybody knows that everyone from the artist up is primarily money driven, pretentious and everyone just gets on with screwing everyone else.
Even on this blog, there’s still a lot of shit, non-educated sucking up, such as Blu being held in such high esteem. I wouldn’t mind so much as he seems to have some talent but he’s a well-to-do kid being flown around the world by one of his land owners, property developers or businessmen who backs him as a tax write off; while making out that he’s teaching us about the true human condition and other really important world issues by painting B&W “baby men head” illustrations that all start to look the same and the likes of which has been done by many other illustrators in the Guardian Guide. But Blu does them big; well whoopee do! I think I would prefer to look at Damian Hurst or a shiny Jeff Koons safe in the knowledge that these two greedy bastards, who are also being propped up by the art establishment, aren’t trying to tell us they’re not greedy self-serving artists who want to shove a message in a clumsy and very literal street art manner down our throats whilst being given a fat hand-out by the system they supposedly detest… This cannot be said about the majority of street artists that preach to the masses and treat us all as idiots. The more elite these artists become, hanging on the side of the Tate, the bigger their hypocrisy becomes, with their anti-establishment, free speech messages they portray! The whole thing from the bottom to the top is a joke!!!!
This blog does go some way in highlighting the problem… But its too focused on silly little things like a print release here and there and what others are talking about on that little forum over there or that other blog! There’s no balance here… With a bit more reading and studying art history (not just posting You Tube videos covering stuff you learned in A-level art) this place could have a more well rounded take on what’s happening in the world of street art…
Damien Hirst,
ReplyDeleteNot Damian Hurst.
Fool.
Its all just a laugh really, sit down and read a good book for a while then look at this lot again, you will realise that none of it (including any of the so called artists) has importance whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteAnd your point is?
ReplyDeleteI think the point is that there is no point? either that or it was posted by MIMI the clown, in which case there is still no point.
ReplyDeletepoints become dulled when they clatter up against money
ReplyDelete"Clatter", i like that, are you by any chance a mid 18th century Highwayman or maybe a Victorian street urchin?. As someone once told me, when money speaks art is silent, forget who it was but someone loaded. I wonder if actual currency has been viewed as art? not those crappy Banksy notes but just actual money?, i would bet there will be some idiot willing to shell out a million for a suitcase containing a grand in tenners, just has to be at the right gallery of course.
