Obey a new year a new goddamn fucking gut wrenchingly tedious print release.
It's 2011 it's an image with a message, it's got the obey hallmark colours and photoshoppy nature to the it, I shouldn't be annoyed, it should just be expected. Artists build their whole career on their 'style'.

It's just so fucking simplistic. It is what it is, no depth no narrative just no fucking something goddammmmittt just another in the long long long line of artistic constraint/restraint/second rate. Please for the love of inspiration, push the boundaries, at least fucking challenge my notion of obey or you know just fuck off.
At the moment it's just another sheet of paper to prop up your wobbly table, just another footnote in contemporary art's snide sneer at the pointless nature of this 'poster art'. Maybe just maybe obey is a vacuous money making scheme to feed some brain dead worms the idea theyre culturally aware? I'll stick with my Dutch specialist mags to feel that way.

ReplyDeleteNo, I think the long faced lord of QVC's street art channel likes it as it's a blank as the eyes he uses to appraise such bits of merchandise and keeps him from focusing on such imminent problems as his early encroaching of male pattern baldness and where to whore, erm intern himself in some stuffy bastion of officialdom.
