Damien Hirst 'Forgotten Promises'

Diamonds are about perfection and clarity and wealth and sex and death and immortality. They are a symbol of everything that’s eternal, but then they have a dark side as well.

When you strip away all the bullshit, all the pretension, it's just objects of curiousity that make the viewer go 'ooh'.

  1. This object feels disrespectful to the dead infant who's skull it uses. I hope it's soul comes back to terrorise Hirst.

  2. diamonds only have those things if you give a shit about them
personally I don't (other than fleeting amazement at how millions of years and tons of pressure can create such a thing)
so all this is is a gaudy piece of trash. the skull is more interesting without the glitz

Hirst's first skull covered in diamonds was the first art piece I'd seen written about in the newspapers before it was even created!
    WHAT. THE. FUCK!?
