New Banksys at Glastonbury

*yawn*

HEY BANKSY you may have noticed there's a fuck off massive strike happening this week because the best way to fix the economy is to ensure the less well off have less money in the future and are kept in their place.

Want to say something? Stop with the crap jokes and 'in' pieces and SAY something .

Eelus - Alice

Coming soon to a wannabe goth near your High street 'alice' by Eelus. No stencils ain't over, no photoshop ain't over, there's still some money left in it. So give generously tim burtons illegitimate step daughter needs another tattoo.

Ron English in London

Oh the irony, an American artist comes to London , posts up a few pieces and sells some originals for 20k +.

Feel ingratiated we are lucky to have him and his pieces are so relevant, pass me the sleeping pills.

I fucking hate the pseudo intellectual photo realistic cartoon style, his talent could be used to  really say something, but now it just feels like a bourgeois circle jerk for the well to do, totally irrelevant to the streets, totally irrelevant to the people.

Faile LA la laaaa Works on paper

A look back over the last 12 years of images released in varying editions with slightly varying images. Slowly mixed up, made into puzzles with some cowboys and Indians for good measure. And here is a reminder of it all, with of course a shit load of work for sale.

Faile did a brainwash with slightly more ingenuity before his mutton chops were even fully developed!

Phlegm in Sheffield

no idea what the zombies are all about and it's getting a little too close to being an art project with that kind of shit. Ignoring that, Phlegm's creating some great characteristic pieces that show a lot more imagination than a fucking car boot sale with hipsters getting excited about what the latest name has got for them at a cut down price...what a banana? A fucking banana, you know where you can stick that? Yeah, Ebay.

New Images on Banksy.co.uk - Update

can't fault this, in fact, if it makes one person look up what he did and think about the shit we let go on without lifting a finger, thats fucking great

And then unfortunately this, another contrite flippant piece, lost on me totally - fuck.

And when I say it's lost on me, it doesn't mean I don't get it - I do - tox in jail, eines comments at the trial and all that. What I mean is what's the fucking point? Really what is it? It's not even funny.

Anyway, the piece has been boarded up, no doubt some cunt trying to make a penny or two. Witness the final death throes of Banksy's street work - generally dropping in quality and instantly sold. Bollocks.

Lister at POW

the shutter work's complete to verify 'street' credentials, the carefully crafted handfinished prints lie ready urging you to believe it's a nice little original at a good price, now it's just about time to see if it works with an artist who's work doesn't translate to the print medium at all

Still they all manage to miss the point, MOCA's a museum's take on street art for the masses carefully vetted, carefully showing what they want it to represent and bypassing the heart of it.

The Rich Simmons Appreciation Post

Beautiful just fucking beautiful

Anonymous said...

Rich Simmons is just the logical conclusion of urban art. First of all Banksy took a political art form, turned it into a cynical consumerist parody and idiots threw money at it. Then people like Grafter and MBW took it to the next level, stripped out any meaning completely and made it all about the product. Now you've got the 3rd generation stencil artists like Rich Simmons who are just emulating their heroes and don't even bother to attempt to disguise their blatantly commercial intent.

People get the 'art' they deserve, and this is the payback for all of the cunts on .info who derive their status in life from what they consume, and fashion obsessed wankers like Vandalog and VNA who have pushed street art into being such an empty bling culture. You all created the monster that is Rich Simmons, and I hope he haunts you in your nightmares.

Street art is now actually regressing to extreme downs syndrome levels, witness the likes of Alec Monopoly, or this type of shit that is infesting the streets of London right now http://www.flickr.com/photos/st8ment/5841493017 Yes, this is what it's come to. There's another cunt who goes around pasting up brightly coloured QR codes everywhere, as if it's some kind of 'concept', never mind that advertisers have been doing the same thing for about 5 years already. Can it possibly get any more retarded???

Expect to see The Rich Simmons Experience tent at next years Upfest, sponsored by The Young Conservatives and Mothercare.

It involves getting pushed around in a pram with a can of gold spraypaint in hand to add your own "hand finishing" to fake brick effect walls covered in stencils of the tory cabinet made to look like superheroes.

'Thalassa' by Swoon

Fucking Swoon I know she's worthy, I know I should be impressed by the scale, the skill, the message, the progress from the streets to installations in museums, to increasing prices at source and at auction. Fucking Swoon.

New Banksy at Sothebys

A stir about the same size as my tea cup gets when I plop the vicadin in to get through another day, was caused recently when this was put up for the upcoming auction:

Let's stop a second and contemplate, yes, it's the free post card from the Exit DVD and it's very grey. Great eh? Rumours abound about how early pieces 'disappear' so as not to dilute the wonderful stock of Banksy and yet yet yet. This is the stock?

Emol in Brazil and a bit more Blu

Emol bringing some colour to the streets.

Funkys most favouritist street artist at it again Blu

This blog is as much about comments as the vacuous farts I visualise in my writing, so a huge thank you to all those who make this place a fucking cesspool of idiocy. It is appreciated but I fear in vain.

Is this the end of Brainwash?

"To permit one artist the right to use without consequence the original creative and copyrighted work of another artist simply because that artist wished to create an alternative work would eviscerate any protection by the copyright act"

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/jun/08/banksy-thierry-guetta-lawsuit

Does this mean Thierry will have to come up with the hardest of things......an idea that is not simply a photograph with  a paint splatter on it?

Banksy sponsors free entry to MOCA

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2011/06/banksy-sponsors-free-admission-to-moca-on-mondays.html

So a show about street art, a type of art supposedly meant for anyone wasn't free? (And that's forgetting they buffed work they didn't agree with).

Could this show encapsulate how fucking wrong this has all become anymore if it tried?

Why be part of this show?

Tox and Invader Up a Tree

Whilst Tox goes down
http://londonist.com/2011/06/graffiti-tox-could-go-to-jail.php/

Invader celebrates his 1000th in Paris.
One quintessentially London, one Paris, ones spent too long in the bathroom, ones spent too long on the street, ones clean and crisp remembering youthful innocence, ones messy simple and in your face.

Making the streets a little less bland, fucking off Daily Mail readers, hitting spots impossible to reach, doing something anyone could do if they put their mind to it, a little rebellion for all of us.

And Invader stop with the shit album covers it demeans your street work.

Morley Speaks Out

"There is one site that I won't name as I wouldn't want to drive any of my readers to it, even inadvertently. If you're from the UK, it's the street art blog where they crap on EVERYTHING. They seem to exist for nothing else but to expend huge amounts of energy on expectorating large masses of text about how something sucks.

What a huge waste of time, if you ask me. Of course everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, I don't enjoy every single thing I see and I don't expect anyone else to enjoy my stuff- but the level of negativity that this site perpetuates is pathetic. It's not just that they feel a need to take the piss out of anything enjoying even a meager level of praise, it's that they all clearly obsess over stuff they claim to hate, referencing interviews or blogs that mention the stuff in question. To me, this illustrates a problem that too many people have. It's an inability to actually like something. Sure they can say what they think is bad and give long lectures on why (or, failing that, short bursts of curse words and bad grammar). But they are unable to come up with something they do like. Only stuff that "doesn't suck". As though something is only beautiful or of value because it doesn't have bad qualities- not because it actually has good ones.

This mind set, mixed with a healthy dose of cowardice is what created the kind of person who posts vile comments on youtube videos that no human with any kind of soul would say to another person in the flesh. The ability to hide ones identity has increased the level of mean-spirited negativity to ridiculous levels. I mean, really? You tell a girl who has a video of her falling off a table while dancing to Beyonce that she should kill herself? For the crime of making a fool of herself? You're comfortable putting that kind of venom filled stuff into the universe? Communicating that was worth typing it and clicking "post comment"? Really? Then you sir, are gross."

New Faile

$800, 300 edition, monkeys in dresses, it would be a classic if not for pretty much everything about it.

New Dran Print

A massively hilarious picture capturing the sheer artistic genius of Dran, actually a borderline catatonic piece who's only merit is that it highlights the sheer shitness of the gift card art genre, the truth being the frame has more to it than most of that which is produced. Go figure, as this piece is just that. Does a shit piece critiquing shit art become good? No.

Source of picture - can be worked out from looking at the image, it's some sort of image store or something.

Anonymous Says 'street art is a massive hypocrisy slowing eating itself and you're all too stupid to realise it, even you Funky'

Street Art is really doing my head in at all levels, the hypocrisy of it all, the in-fighting, the elitism and corruption surpass that of the fine art and contemporary art world… At least there, all the bitching and dealing is done behind closed doors and everybody knows that everyone from the artist up is primarily money driven, pretentious and everyone just gets on with screwing everyone else.

Even on this blog, there’s still a lot of shit, non-educated sucking up, such as Blu being held in such high esteem. I wouldn’t mind so much as he seems to have some talent but he’s a well-to-do kid being flown around the world by one of his land owners, property developers or businessmen who backs him as a tax write off; while making out that he’s teaching us about the true human condition and other really important world issues by painting B&W “baby men head” illustrations that all start to look the same and the likes of which has been done by many other illustrators in the Guardian Guide. But Blu does them big; well whoopee do! I think I would prefer to look at Damian Hurst or a shiny Jeff Koons safe in the knowledge that these two greedy bastards, who are also being propped up by the art establishment, aren’t trying to tell us they’re not greedy self-serving artists who want to shove a message in a clumsy and very literal street art manner down our throats whilst being given a fat hand-out by the system they supposedly detest… This cannot be said about the majority of street artists that preach to the masses and treat us all as idiots. The more elite these artists become, hanging on the side of the Tate, the bigger their hypocrisy becomes, with their anti-establishment, free speech messages they portray! The whole thing from the bottom to the top is a joke!!!!

This blog does go some way in highlighting the problem… But its too focused on silly little things like a print release here and there and what others are talking about on that little forum over there or that other blog! There’s no balance here… With a bit more reading and studying art history (not just posting You Tube videos covering stuff you learned in A-level art) this place could have a more well rounded take on what’s happening in the world of street art…

Morley Print

Coming out at Lazarides, a truly momentous release?

An image of a Danny Wallace lookalike writing on a wall, not only is the image mundane, tired and sigh inducing, so are the words, one for the stay at home dad in all of you. Kill me now.

Ayrz in Poland

A crazy old farmer with devil eyes and a pet devil snake checking out the peasants - what's not to love?
