Mobstr - The Commodity Series

You've just started your foundation course in re media l studies at Milton Keynes college for lowest education and they set the task 'critique western society and the importance of value'.

This would be their first draft.

It's with some dismay mobstr chooses such a piece for a series of paintings. Monopoly anyone?

    Warhol did the same joke about 40 years ago. He didn't feel the need to be quite as blatantly literal about it though...he just used a large dollar sign instead.

    It's makes you feel a bit embarrassed for the artist when they unknowingly recycle a worn out idea, but don't even manage to make it 1/10th as good as the original. You see the same thing all the time in art school foundation course shows, where geeky upper class hipster teens all keep repeating the same few stale clichés, but seem to think they are geniuses who are making amazingly groundbreaking work.

    The other place you see it all the time is in street art.
