Anonymous Says 'Wooster Selective'

'Its always been my impression that "Shit We Are Diggin" Wooster Collective promotes horrible taste. Generally they'll post anything that is sentimental, involves imagery of a young child, or comes from a distant/exotic country. So that the appeal of their blog is most wide reaching, like art on a hallmark greeting card, while it aims to prove there is a "global movement". This "Fresh Stuff" post is an example of the first two, which its their most tired troupe:

Grasping at the public's heart strings with kids-in-danger seems like the lowest. Hopefully people have some sentiment for the most vulnerable in society, but to use them to promote your art brand is another kind of victimization. I can't understand how any group of people could be so dim witted as to fall for this. It sucks on so many different levels

I guess it matters less now that Wooster's rating has slipped. During the fat years, they were always a spokes-person to all major media, and that was incredibly disconcerting.'

  2. Wooster used to be alright, but about a year or two ago it just turned into utter shite, I check it about twice a year now.

  4. Nice title !. He runs an ad agency, what do you expect.. he gently rapes the culture whilst your head is turned. Unurth is leagues ahead

  5. The cunt won't post anything that's too edgy or criticises brands, because he's afraid of losing business if any of his multinational marketing clients happen to see it.

So he promotes a highly censored, sanitised version of street art. Hallmark greeting card art describes it perfectly. Sites like Wooster and Vandalog are so fucking irrelevant now. It's like having a bunch of braindead consumerist mongs trying to tell you what to think. Unurth is slightly better, but it's still mostly pretty, inoffensive and often bland murals. Nothing really contentious...all of the 'celebrity street art bloggers' shy away from that kind of stuff because politically they're very conservative, even if on the surface they like to adopt a persona of being 'cool' and 'rebellious'.

  6. Agree on all fronts. I used to be a big supporter of wooster and the folks behind it. As time passes, they become more watered down, more self interested, and less about all the good that used to thrive in this scene.

Almost as disappointing as Ron English doing an album cover for a woman beater.

  7. The asked to interview me in 2003
I looked at their site, saw they were running interviews with people that had been making work in the streets for sometimes as little as two months, and thought "these people are idiots" and said "no thanks"
it's taken everyone else 8 years to catch up to the fact that Wooster Collective share the same initials as Water Closet
    Flush the shit away!!!

p.s. a couple of years ago I noticed artists were making films about their latest gallery show - now people seem to be making a film about themselves pasting up a poster!?!? Just ridiculous. How much more stupid and boring can this scene get!?

p.p.s. I'm currently working on a movie about me posting on blogs. It's the new shit, the kids will LOVE it. Gonna make a print of myself hunched over a keyboard, drooling, eating cake, while hooded figures in the background hurl abuse at me. 27 colours, limited to a billion, and I'll wipe my arse on each one

  12. Apparently historians have now determined the exact point at which street art became uncool can be traced back with extreme precision to the moment when Vandalog's dad became involved.
