Dolk Show in Oslo

A slow steady descent into high gallery prices, fewer interesting ideas, a disintegration of any style to push him apart from the average stencil artist and a seeming inability to prove there's any real talent behind the obvious puns. Dolk short for disappointment.

  1. Embarrassingly bad. The cringe factor is off the scale on these ones.

  4. I always assumed he was from Europe for some reason.  I don't understand the high prices.  I file Dolk alongside the artist Above in that the promoters claim the work sells out but I have never met or known anyone that actually owns their work (apart from Nuart and Dolk).  Above is a strange one thinking about it, where the fuck did he come from? I don't know so I googled him and checked out his wiki page, the longest wiki page I have ever seen, clearly written by the artist himself.  I stopped ready after the first line that started "Above was born and raised in California by 'hippie' parents".  I don't beileve that Charming Baker sells all the work they claim either although at least he can paint.

Dolk isn't british, he's from Bergen, Norway

  6. ...and this is why it makes perfect sense that he repeatedly shows policeofficers in british uniforms in his "paintings".   Making a pun of "pig" and people in police uniforms is so 2003.

  7. to my knowledge he is well over 30 years old and never been put in a cell or otherwise encountered police in a manner fit to fuel this pubertal and anti-conformist hate for the boys in blue.   But hey, looks like its a well working formula to sell some paintings...

  8. Just can't get over how bad these are. The bottom one is probably the worst thing I've seen all year. I doubt that even a primary school child would find it in the least bit clever or amusing. For the person who created these to actually think that the world needed shit like this in it...well, his level of mental delusion is quite astonishing really. I'd even go so far as to say that he must be seriously mentally unwell.

  9. i am xavier from france, sorry for my english but i want to put my comment on this blog, for me when people speack about an artist even if you like or not it's a proof that it don't leave you indifferent.

me i really like his job, i love street art and i follow a lot of artists ...i saw the work of dolk since a couple of year and for me his work is very clever !

it's true that his last work is different that what he did but it's simply an evolution of his art ! and that's good that an artist have an evolution on his work !   what you want that dolk do the same during 10 years more  !

me i am happy that dolk do something new because actually to many artists do the same things....

street art must do react everybody ! we are the new generation, and street art is for you !
for us and not for our parents !   see what the new generation do in the arabic country !  it's the revolution of the new generation!....street art must be one way for us to realize that things have to change, the world have to change !

when i read on this blog that you find the work of dolk ungly it make me smiling because deep in me i know that his art works ! and it's the principal !

see the poor africain girl with a pie on his face make you
uncomfortable ! i don't want to know if you like or not i just want to know if it's doing you thinking in what kind of world we are living !...think just a few moment about it , take the place of this girl and see and feel  like her.

street art can make you smiling and laughing  but fortunately that this art can make more!

and the other canvas with the little girl jumping the priest      it 's what at your eyes? it's just a girl a girl jumping a priest ...no more...you thing that dolk do it just to make you smiling....i don't thing so...his work is clever ...thing more ....take more time when you see it....it's deep of sence...it's speacking to me about the religion and all the damage that all the religion did in our world since many years !

in our world we have to take the religions that our parents choose for us.....remember you when you was a child ..i don't think that you born catholic or musulman ....you born just  simply !...when you are a child you just want have fun and feel happy ! but your parents impose you this boring religion ! any religion is boring for the eyes of a child !

that all....i am ok to hear your critics but i want just one thing!...please take more time for thinking when you see the work of an artist

  12. Dolk recently did a TV-interview talking about his new show amongst other things. As far as I can remember he never said that it was Posh Spice, just that it was a girl with an eating disorder and he though it was funny that she would never even concider eating the pie someone had thrown in her face.
You can see the interview here:

  13.  Yeah, eating disorders make really funny posters!  Cant wait to see his take on bulimia...

  14. I meant painting, not poster.
Not that there is much of difference, come to think of it...
It will probably be released on HMP in two years, just like he is doing with his old paintings next week.
