The original piece was catharsis for me. To fill the vacuum left when something I respected wasn't all I expected it to be.
But Dr Funky are you naive? The world turns people need to live. I agree, I applaud artists with a business acumen, Damien Hirst built a name and an empire around a factory workshop ethic. But when you set yourself up as more, as different and then through the cracks you see what is really going on, (and being hidden) then you've a reason for disappointment.
So the question is what are we left with? If the meaning has been 'tainted', we're left with an appreciation of some fine images and a man and a team who've played/crafted the part of the 'outsider' very well, whilst carefully strenghtening a brand and a business.
Why call your blog 'Street Art is Dead'? This is why.
