New Prints at Pictures on Walls!

It's an average print release festival of a Thursday (now Friday but hey) a couple of truly average prints released by POW today, which on the site now says 'currently unavailable' possibly someone has had the good sense to review their release?

the blurb for those who enjoy this bucket of painfulness

'Maya Hayuk

This is Maya Hayuk (pronounced Hi - Yook!) a non-hipster resident of fashionable Williamsburg NY who is a member of the Barnstormers collective amongst a whole host of other artists. She’s made stuff for everyone from Devendra Banhart to the Beastie Boys. This is her first set of prints with us, they’re 88 x 58cm and 100% handmade. By using translucent inks and a spattering of hand applied spray paint on each one Maya has produced a print boasting over 15 colours by using just five. Efficient, ethereal and hypnotic - we recommend. '

Lisbon Mural - Blu and Is Gemeos

is finished and fucking great

Barbara Kruger – Pocket London Underground Map Cover

Anyone who's spent any time in London will probably conclude this piece makes London seem a little more dramatic than it actually is, but hey artists are here to brighten up the bits of our life where we're not queuing or wishing the fat fucker who stole our tube seat head would explode

Obey Haring 'green' edition at haring.com

Another edition of 450, a variant of the slightest nature to get the grand total of this image with Shep's signature on it up to the blood curdling heights of 900!!! And it wasn't the greatest print to begin with.

The more annoying side of this release comes down to clarity, never Shep's strongest point. But here of Miss Bugs proportions! There was NO mention of this second release when the first was released, which is wholly out of order and smacks of opportunism (keep it quiet and we'll get more sales).

On a final note looking at the pics of Shep's Deitch show, it all feels well a little Mr Brainwash.

Pictures of famous people - check.

Minimal artistic additions - check.

Similar look to all pictures - check.

You may have served your time shep but you've seemingly done fuck all with it.

Another Banksy in NY

certainly looks like one that's been missed up to now by my goodself, lovely too, if a bloody awful iphone pic

Lisbon Mural - Os GĂȘmeos and Blu

Os Gemeos and Blu doing what they do best in Lisbon, Blu as always underlines the biting wit and skills that he's mastered more so than anyone else out there (including Banksy)

Rooftop Burner Fund

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE INTERESTED

ROOFTOP BURNER FUND
So, there are plenty of charity events, plenty of causes worth fighting for, whole countries at war.... But sometimes it’s just about helping your friends, helping those you love. And here we’re taking the opportunity to help one of our best friends.
If you don’t know, here’s the introduction. Rowdy is one of the longest standing players in UK graffiti, supporting the scene and playing his part in what has now turned into a global phenomenon. He has painted with the best of them, in fact is one of the best of them, always sticking true to his vision, rocking his own style, never selling out his ideas. Recently he walked out of his house, which also served as his studio and when he returned a half hour later, everything had been burned to the ground. EVERYTHING! ID, money, clothes, personal possessions, art, the ability to make art, everything gone!
So, we’re taking this as an opportunity to support someone who has so readily supported us as a scene by auctioning some art to help him get back to a position where he can do what he does best, making art.
It’s a testament to his popularity and reputation that so many artists have donated work to this auction. All work has been personally donated by the artists and the galleries that represent them: Banksy, Paul Insect, Swoon, Sickboy, Hush, Espo, the whole Burning Candy crew and a whole bunch more... So, it’s your chance to buy something beautiful and at the same time help out someone who has helped in his way to make graffiti and street art what it is today.

Banksy v Robbo B*llocks Continues

Fuck I want to be bothered by this, but it's like being bothered by a three year old dropping their ice cream on the floor and crying, pointless

Static 'New Ways of Seeing' follow up

orginals run from 900 to 2k+, involving a gallery puts a certain mark up on prices - certainly gives me a new way of seeing 'it'

Static 'New Ways of Seeing'

Many years ago I saw some unassuming cheap prints, thought their simple graphical style and whimsical details were endearing, years later I'm fucking old, jaded and sick of photoshopped images with 25% added humour. I want to like Static I really do, but I just can't find enough about them to like. So, more freaking chandlier choppers anyone?

New Nick Walker in Bristol

Walker's Alive! And he's back in his hometown doing his staple butterflys with a twist of manimal, nicely done and then tagged in a blink of an eye - oh well - those youngsters have no respeck. Let's us pray this doesn't make it to print, I'm not sure I can take another Walker is God, no Walker is a see you next Tuesday thread.

Ron English in New York

one of those hugely skilled artists who never fails to underwhelm, although in this case on the street it works pretty well

Mr Brainwash is releasing his latest print "Recovery Plan" !

Yes that's right, a scything critique of political impotence in the western world, or a still from an old American film, photoshopped slightly, out next Tuesday, I can't wait

PREFAB @ LAZARIDES, PRINT INFO.

2 low edition prints for the show previewing tonight
Britannia edition of 15 £250

The Cash Edition 20 £150

£100 difference sounds alot to me for 5 less, but I guess interesting pieces.

Prefab are like Faile but instead of 50's comics it's 70's punk images. Nice enough but hard to get too excited about.

New Banksy in New York?

I hope not

Obey and Kinsey Print Releases

Obey - 18 x 24″ Screen Print, Signed and Numbered Edition of 450

Dave Kinsey Subterranean, 2010 Edition: 100 Size: 22 x 18 inches /

So Obey (thurs) and Dave Kinsey (wed) both have print releases out, both images have their own merit, one for being a classic image of a classic modern artist and one for being an interesting 'classic' Kinsey image, both suffer from something - would you frame it? Do you have enough of these already?

Charlie Isoe - Silver Spoons and Hotel Rooms - Lazarides London

Christopher Charlie Isoe 'Silver Spoons and Hotel Rooms' at Lazarides London -  a show I've been looking forward to for a long time, this Aussie born artist shows real promise of becoming the real thing, not just another 'dangerous / dull sensationalist', if anything his progression reminds me in growth of David Choe from a couple of years or so ago.

So his first solo show in London a success? Charlie's work would never guarantee such a thing, the erratic nature of his work leaves plenty of room for misfiring, but never are you left let down (apart from 'You'), maybe misunderstood, dirty and ugly but there is always something to puzzle over.

The standout pieces? Well the portraits are surprisingly living room friendly, the mixture of line and realism as the picture breaksdown works really well (particularly 'since she left home'). 'You' though is awful, childish stuff, I'd expect this from Angel41 perhaps but not Isoe. Is it expensive? Yes, maybe too much so, so early on 3-12k, for an artist still starting out. But this feels like the beginning of something special - please some more fucking maverick mental headcases to keep me happy.

ROA at Factory Fresh NY from 14/5

okay so i like ROA he's fresh, something a little different works great on the street, striking and relevant, strange, solemn and irrelevant but all the time great to see. And yet, here we are second show in a month and I'm already saying what the fuck? Another show? Already?
